This June, Walnut Creek Wetland Park is excited to offer Out in Nature for its second year!
This program series was created to offer a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ people interested in exploring how they relate to nature and encourage that connection. While these programs are geared toward the LGBTQ+ community, all are welcome.
Out in Nature Dates and Times
Out in Nature: oSTEM Professional Development (16 and older)
Saturday, June 14, 9 a.m. - noon, $10
Connect and learn from queer professionals in environmentally focused fields about navigating these spaces and how their identities inform their work. We will explore related careers, engage in activities that bridge comfort indoors and outdoors, and share further resources for being out in the workplace. This is an adult-oriented program, but still appropriate for any interested students entering 11th or 12th grade.
Out in Nature: Adults (Ages 18 and older)
Saturday, June 28, 9 a.m. - noon, ages 18 and older, $5
Reconnect with nature or discover it for the first time, through nature art, discussion, and a good ol’ romp in the stream. All materials and equipment will be provided.
All programs are based out of the Norman and Betty Camp Education Center at Walnut Creek Wetland Park. Pre-registration is required through RecLink.
