There is exciting news for Amtrak passengers boarding at Raleigh’s Union Station. Thanks to a grant for more than $3.1 million, the daily parking fee at the Dillon Parking Deck will be much more attractive.
Amtrak passengers will soon be able to take advantage of more affordable parking. When purchasing train tickets, passengers will have the option to lock in a reduced daily parking rate of just $8, a savings of more than 50 percent off the regular $18 daily rate.
The remaining cost will be subsidized by the grant. This initiative meets the growing demand for easy, reliable parking and ensures passengers can focus on enjoying their travel experience instead of worrying about where to park.
Funding is provided by the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grant from the Federal Highway Administration. Parking activity for the grant will be tracked by The Car Park. Funding is comprised of $2.5 million in federal funds, $312,500 in state funds and a $312,500 local match from the City.
The exact start date for the initiative is unknown, but stay tuned for more details.
