Q: How do I become a certified Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) with the City of Raleigh?
A: The City of Raleigh is not a certification entity; however, we recognize NCDOA/HUB and NCDOT/DBE certification programs and can assist in the process. For more information, please visit MWBE Upcoming Projects and Eligibility.

Q: Does my business have to be NCDOA/HUB or NCDOT/DBE certified to do business with the City of Raleigh?
A: No.

Q: Why should I get my business NCDOA/HUB or NCDOT/DBE certified?
A: For construction and repair projects of $300,000 or more, Prime bidders are required to perform Good Faith Efforts to solicit certified MWBE firms to achieve the City’s 15% participation goal.

Q: Does my business have to be registered as a City of Raleigh Supplier or Vendor?
A: Firms that contract directly with the City of Raleigh are required to register as a City supplier or vendor. Please contact the MWBE staff with any questions.

Q: My business is registered with the North Carolina Secretary of State. Do I still need to certify with the NCDOA HUB office?
A: Yes, The Secretary of State does not certify MWBE firms. The organizations that certify MWBE firms are NCDOA/HUB and NCDOA/DBE. Please see our MWBE Upcoming Projects and Eligibility.

Q: Does my business have to be in North Carolina in order to be certified?
A:  No, but please contact the certifying entities for more information.
