Project Activities Upcoming Events

The City of Raleigh has received a grant from the NOAA Office of Education's Environmental Literacy Program for a three year project to improve the climate resilience of Raleigh's vulnerable communities.

Project Activities

The Community Climate Education for a Resilient Raleigh (CCERR) project has three primary activities:

1. Support community learning networks convened by Partners for Environmental Justice  (PEJ).

PEJ will convene community learning networks on watershed management and extreme heat. These networks will inform residents about climate related risks, civic engagement, environmental justice and community resilience.

2. Prepare communities for climate-related emergencies.

Through this project, the City will develop community outreach mechanisms to share the Ready Raleigh Emergency Preparedness Guide particularly among climate-vulnerable communities.

3. Incorporate community priorities for resilience building into City planning efforts.

The City will work with the North Carolina State Climate Office to convene neighbors to discuss climate resilience planning and integrate their priorities and perspectives into City plans.

Upcoming Events

Project activities and events will kick-off in early 2024.
