Pullen Arts Center is seeking submissions for the 2027 Exhibition Program.

The Pullen Arts Center galleries showcase a broad spectrum of visual arts from local and regional artists. We provide artists with exhibition opportunities and space to engage with the community without collection commission on sales. The galleries are free, open to the public, and are a valued component of the community arts education experience.

Eligibility

Persons must be 18+ years of age. Artists residing in the City of Raleigh are prioritized, however artists working across the Piedmont region are encouraged to apply. We define “all artists” to include the range of human differences (race and ethnicity, gender identity, age, socio-economic and housing status, religion, political affiliation, physical and mental ability) and the broadest definition of an arts professional.

Exhibition and Application Information

All 2027 exhibitions are themed group shows. Group shows are curated by Pullen Arts Center, and will generally include 3-5 artists, depending on theme and work submitted. Show titles and themes are up to artist interpretation. No specific medium or art-style has been kept in mind for these themes, and no singular analysis of themes is expected. Exhibitions will be on display for about 2.5 months.

Exhibition Schedule

Metamorphosis: studies in change (February - April 2027)

This theme explores metamorphosis in its many forms. What are the stages, phases, or transformations we go through in life? How do we adapt to changes in our environment, both physical and mental? What do we do to survive and to thrive? How do we mark or denote progress and growth?

Awake and Aware: our senses as a guide (May - July 2027)

This theme explores our senses and how they guide us through our environment. How do they keep us in the present moment? How do they influence our perception of our surroundings? This could include more than just our physical senses, such as intuition or mental perception. Work can explore any or all of the senses in various mediums.

The Ways We Remember: rituals, stories, memorials (August - October 2027)

This theme explores memory in action. How do we hold on to our memories? What are the stories or the rituals we practice? How do we memorialize people, places, and feelings? What memories do you want to keep alive?
