Harmonic Chaos Now Open at Block Gallery | Artist Reception May 8

Featuring local artists Martha Thorn and Tonya Solley Thornton

Harmonic Chaos

Raleigh Arts is proud to announce the opening of Harmonic Chaos, a new exhibition now on view at Block Gallery, featuring the works of artists Martha Thorn and Tonya Solley Thornton. The show runs from May 7 through August 15, 2025, and is free and open to the public.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Block Gallery (222 W. Hargett St., inside the Raleigh Municipal Building). Meet the artists, explore their colorful and complex creations, and enjoy an evening of visual delight and creative conversation.

At first glance, Harmonic Chaos dazzles with its bright colors and whimsical energy, but a closer look reveals the artists' exceptional technical skill and bold use of materials. Thorn’s layered painting technique and Thornton’s intuitive, collage-driven sculptures celebrate a dynamic, boundary-pushing approach to contemporary art. Their contrasting yet complementary styles reflect a shared commitment to process, material, and artistic innovation.
