Open to neighborhoods and grassroots community groups, including groups of neighborhoods who are not part of an organization, such as homeowners’ associations, as well as groups of individuals and families who want to work on a project together without forming an organization. Your project would be a great way to meet your neighbors, bring the community together and celebrate your neighborhood.

The maximum funding level is $250.

Project Requirements

  • Provide a public benefit.
  • Be free and open to all members of the community.
  • Emphasize self-help, with ideas initiated, planned and implemented by the neighbors and community members who will be affected by the project.
  • Demonstrate community input and involvement.
  • Occur within the City of Raleigh limits or its extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Organization Eligibility

  • Neighborhood-based organizations, as well as groups of neighbors who do not belong to an organization.
  • Demonstration of community input and involvement that shows that the project will benefit the neighborhood. 

Timeline

  • Completed applications will be accepted throughout the year, on an on-going basis.
  • Your application must be received at least six weeks before the start of a project.
  • Within three weeks of receiving your application, the Community Engagement Division of the Housing and Neighborhoods Department and the Raleigh Arts Commission will decide whether to approve funding.
  • After the project has been completed, a final report must be submitted by your organization or group receiving Neighborhood Art Funds to the Community Engagement Division
