Drought: Water Restrictions and Burn Ban in Place

Water restrictions and burn ban are in place until further notice.

Stage 1 Water Restrictions

Raleigh Water has implemented Stage 1 water restrictions.

Central North Carolina is experiencing a drought. While you may notice dry creeks and low spots along the lake’s edges, the good news is that Raleigh’s drinking water supply remains strong.

We ask our community to work together to save water during the drought. The restrictions are meant to protect our water supply while still giving you options to care for your home and landscape.

Local Burn Ban

Wake County has enacted a local burn ban effective immediately, in alignment with the statewide burn ban previously issued by the North Carolina Forest Service on Saturday, March 28.

The countywide ban extends protections to areas within 100 feet of occupied dwellings, locations not covered under the state’s order. The ban will be in effect until further notice. Conditions will be reevaluated in the coming days to determine when it is safe to lift the ban.

This is a county sanctioned ban, but as the largest city in the county we feel it's necessary to amplify their message due to the severity of potential impacts.

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has also offered burn ban guidance.
