Frequently Asked Questions about new utility payment system
Over the Phone:
Call Paymentus at 888-905-3169 and follow the prompts.
Call the City of Raleigh at 919-996-3245 and follow the prompts.
What information do I need to provide when making a payment over the phone?
Account Number and have your service Zip Code available.
Make a payment through the City of Raleigh’swebsite:
Log in with your Username and Password.
Make a one time payment with your Account Number and service Zip Code.
What are the types of payment accepted?
Phone: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Online: Amazon Pay, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover,
E-Check, Venmo, PayPal, and PayPal Credit.
What is the minimum and maximum amount accepted?
Minimum: Two dollars ($2.00)
Maximum: Twenty thousand dollars ($20,000.00)
What are some of the new features offered through the Paymentus system?
Saving payment methods both over the phone and on the website.
Create an AutoPay using a Credit/Debit Card.
Future Dated Payments (up to the Due Date)
Make a one-time payment without logging in.
Can I cancel a future dated payment?
Yes. Call Customer Care and Billing at 919-996-3245 during normal business hours with at least 48 hours’ notice.
Will a future dated payment prevent my services from being disconnected?
No. A Pay Plan would need to be created. Pay Plans can be created through the website or by calling Customer Care and Billing at 919-996-3245. For more information visit.
If I have an AutoPay Credit/Debit card, can I set up a Pay Plan or vice versa?
Yes. If you have enrolled in paying via autopay by credit or debit card, you can set up a pay plan and pay plan payments can be made by your autopay credit or debt card. Sign into or, set up an account, using web self-service to add a pay plan or an autopay credit card payment method. For more information visit.
If I have an AutoPay set up from my bank account, how can I switch it to use a Credit/Debit Card?
If you have an online account already set up, you can cancel your AutoPay online or by calling 919-996-3245 and working with a Customer Care and Billing Associate.
In online Self Service, I see PayPal and Venmo, can I pay with other methods?
Yes. Additional customer options are Electronic Check and various Debit and Credit Cards. You will need to add a payment method first. Click on the + Add Payment Method. You can also choose to save the card information for your next visit.
