We work with property owners on a voluntary basis to buy and restore floodprone areas developed before current floodplain regulations.
Returning these areas to green space:
- Keeps residents safe;
- Allows the floodplain to function naturally; and,
- Reduces flooding impacts.
When structures are no longer in the floodplain - the water can fan out, slow down, and soak into ground more easily.
