CDL Spring Training

A Friendly Reminder to be Safe and Smart on the Roads

Nearly 200 Raleigh Water Employees Attend a Refresher Safety Driving Course

Our drivers bring  Raleigh Water to you—and we’re not just talking about H2O. These are the folks behind the wheels of trucks, running big equipment at worksites, and some even are driving tractors out in the fields. Every day, they clock in, buckle up, and get to work to making sure Raleigh Water keeps flowing (pun intended—but it’s actually true!)

Raleigh Water is made up of hundreds of people. Each individual person works in a different area and has their own special training. One way Raleigh Water helps the team grow and excel is by offering more chances to learn on the job.

Recently, more than 170 Raleigh Water workers started their day in a classroom instead of behind the wheel. Looking like a sea of bright neon, they joined a CDL refresher course. Both newbies and veteran drivers had the chance to ask questions and learn from North Carolina Master Trooper Scott Baker. He drilled in the reminder about how just a few seconds looking away from the road and down at your phone can change everything—especially when you’re driving big City trucks and equipment.

By taking time to learn more, these drivers are making our roads safer—for themselves and for everyone else. And thanks to them, your water gets to your tap safely.

Raleigh Water’s Health and Safety Specialist, Jason Tibbrine, shared why this training matters, “The one thing I always try to hammer home is that these workers are the ones out there in 100-degree weather—or 10 degrees at night. They’re working hard so the rest of us can stay home and sleep in our beds.”

Even though all the drivers already passed their CDL tests, refresher classes like this help even the pros pick up something new. For Raleigh Water, our most important resource is our people.
