Curbside Christmas Tree Collection Offered on Yard Waste Days

Curbside pickup for Raleigh residential customers

After the holidays, there's a new purpose for your dried out Christmas tree! Recycle it. If the City of Raleigh picks up your garbage, all you have to do is leave your tree curbside on your yard waste collection day and our crews will pick it up and take it to the Raleigh Yard Waste Center, where we'll turn it into mulch for landscaping.

We pick up Christmas trees on your yard waste collection day through Feb. 12, 2024.

Reminders:

  • Never put your Christmas tree in a garbage, recycling, or yard waste container. Leave it right on the ground for collection.
  • Be sure to thoroughly remove all decorations and lights.
  • No Christmas lights in the recycling cart - they make a tangled mess out of sorting equipment. Reuse your lights for next year. When it's time to dispose of them, put them in the garbage.
  • No artificial trees! Only live trees for Christmas tree recycling.

Residents can also drop off their Christmas tree at one of several locations and help create trails in Wake County Parks.

Wake County has Several Drop-Off Sites for Christmas Trees

Not a residential garbage customer? You can still recycle your Christmas trees! Visit Wake County's Christmas Tree Recycling page for details on where to take your tree after the holiday season. The county uses Christmas trees to mulch trails in County Parks.
