Raleigh Offers Free Leaf Bags as Collection Season Begins

One bundle per household

Leaves are falling, and Raleigh’s annual leaf collection season begins this Wednesday, November 12! Residents have several options for managing their leaves this season:

  • Leave it for mulch: Shredded leaves make excellent natural mulch for garden beds and trees.
  • Rake it to the curb: Crews will visit each neighborhood to vacuum loose leaves as part of the seasonal collection schedule.
  • Bag it for pickup: For those who prefer not to wait for the vacuum truck, Raleigh Transportation is offering a free 5-pack bundle of 30-gallon paper yard waste bags (one bundle per household).

Bags can be picked up from one of three convenient locations:

  • Central Operations Facility – 2550 Operations Way, Raleigh
  • NERO Location – 3228 Spottswood Street, Raleigh
  • Raleigh Municipal Building – 222 W. Hargett Street, Raleigh (4th floor)
