Leaf Collection Options

Next fall, we’re turning over a new leaf.

The way Raleigh collects leaves is changing. Starting Fall 2026, loose-leaf collection will be replaced with weekly yard waste pickup. This enhanced service will make things more consistent and reliable for residents like you!

This year, you have options for managing your leaves:

Use your yard waste bin

  • Place leaves in your yard waste cart or up to 15 biodegradable paper bags.
  • Set them out on your regular collection day.
  • Weekly pickup begins Fall 2026, but you can start using this bi-weekly option now.

Use Loose Leaf Collection for final season

  • Rake leaves to the curb in a single pile, clear of storm drains and streets.
  • Crews will collect on the posted schedule.

Leave the Leaves for an eco-friendly option

  • Skip collection and let leaves stay on your property.
  • Mulch them into your lawn, rake into garden beds, or compost at home.
  • A simple, eco-friendly way to return nutrients to the soil.
