Nutrient Overview

Nutrients, like nitrogen and phosphorus, are naturally occurring in our environment and important for plant health and growth. When nutrient levels are too high, it causes:

  • Large algae blooms that reduce oxygen in the water
  • Rapid water chemistry changes and imbalance
  • Large fish kills and ecosystem destruction

Report and Track Algal Blooms across the state.

Types of Nutrient Pollutants
