Between Mile Markers 13.75 and 17.25
Updated: Feb 26, 2024 - 11:39 am
Initiation:
Completion:
Raleigh Water is continuing the construction of the West Neuse Sewer Interceptor Project, an important sewer interceptor replacement project along the Neuse River, from Anderson Point Park to Alvis Farm. Sections of the Neuse River Trail will be closed to safely accommodate construction and protect trail users. Closure of the Neuse River Trail will take place in three phases.
Phase 1 Closure – The trail from Anderson Point Park to just south of Milburnie Park is closed through late spring 2024. Phase 2 Closure – the trail from just south of Milburnie Park to the Hedingham neighborhood is closed through December 30, 2024. Due to the absence of continuous adjacent bicycle and pedestrian facilities that can accommodate all user types, a detour is not feasible during the Phase 2 closure. View Closure Map. Phase 3 Closure - from Hedingham to Alvis Farm property. The Phase 3 closure timeframe will be posted prior to the closure but is anticipated to begin May 2024.
