‘We Want to Prevent Issues from Arising’

The New Construction Division at the Raleigh Fire Department has a simple goal: to protect property, people, and first responders. “We want to prevent any issues from arising, which is always easier to do than to try to deal with them if they do happen,” says division leader and Assistant Fire Marshall Kevin Bailey.

RFD Members Tell Teen Campers: There Will be a Path for You

Raleigh Fire Department Chaplain Jeff Neal speaks to campers at the Nate McMillan Mentoring Camp in Raleigh.

A group of Raleigh firefighters connected with campers at the Nate McMillan Foundation camp for 10-18-year-old boys. The camp, founded by the former NBA player and coach McMillan, provides an educational environment where campers engage in activities that foster skill development and personal growth. The visit allowed firefighters to encourage the boys to lead positive lives of purpose and impact - and show them that there is a path for everyone.

Fire Prevention Week: Make Smoke Alarms Work for You

The Raleigh Fire Department wants to ensure you have a smoke alarm – and that it works. This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is: “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You!” Smoke alarms reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by more than half (54 percent).
