What is included with an MRU rental?
Your rental includes a fully staffed mobile gaming unit with:
- Multiple gaming consoles (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox)
- A variety of popular video games
- TVs and controllers
- Outdoor lawn games for additional play
How many people can participate?
- Inside the MRU: 10–15 participants at a time
- Outdoor activities: 20+ participants
- Groups can rotate through, so everyone gets a turn.

Where can the MRU be set up?
The MRU operates at select community centers across Raleigh. You can request a specific location during the booking process. The MRU will be set up in the parking lot of the community center, and you will have access to either outdoor bathrooms or the main facility bathrooms throughout the duration of your event.

The MRU may be able to operate onsite for certain events, pending review of available space. We cannot bring the MRU to residential neighborhoods at this time.
How much does it cost?
- Rentals start at $200/hour with a 2-hour minimum
- Additional time and add-ons are available
- Special rates may apply for schools and city departments
What’s the cancellation policy?
Any cancellations must be communicated at least 14 days prior to the scheduled start of the rental. If the rental cancellation request is received within this time period, a full refund minus a 15% administrative fee will be granted.
When a rental is canceled by Raleigh Parks, fees are 100% refundable.
What happens if it rains?
The MRU can still operate in poor weather, but outdoor activities may be limited. In the event of thunder or lightning, there will be a 30-minute weather delay per occurrence. Staff will contact you ahead of time if the weather may impact your event.
What games do you have?
The MRU comes with a curated selection of popular games for a variety of ages and interests, and our selection changes periodically. You can share preferences during planning, and staff will do their best to accommodate. Our game options include:

Can we have food or drinks at the event?
Food and drinks are allowed in designated areas of the park/community center. If you’re interested in renting indoor or outdoor space at the hosting community center on the day of your MRU rental, visit this page to learn more. Food and drink are not permitted inside the MRU.
