Raleigh Parks is pleased to welcome Laura Heredia as the new Executive Director of the City of Oaks Foundation, the nonprofit partner supporting the City of Raleigh’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. Born and raised in Raleigh, Heredia brings a deep appreciation for the city’s parks, greenways, and open spaces to her new role. Guided by a belief that strong communities grow from connection, care, and access to shared spaces, she will lead the Foundation’s efforts to connect people, parks, and purpose across Raleigh.
The City of Oaks Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has supported Raleigh’s parks and conservation efforts since its creation in 2010. The Foundation works alongside Raleigh Parks to conserve natural areas, expand access to recreation opportunities, and provide financial assistance that removes barriers to participation. Through grants, donations, and partnerships, the Foundation helps ensure that everyone in Raleigh can enjoy the city’s parks, nature preserves, and programs.
Heredia shared, “It’s an honor to serve my hometown in this way and to continue the Foundation’s work in connecting our community to the incredible outdoor spaces and opportunities that make Raleigh such a special place.”
