The City of Raleigh is proud to announce that the 2024 Raleigh Parks Plan Update has received the 2025 Marvin Collins Award for Specialized Planning from the American Planning Association – North Carolina Chapter (APA-NC). This prestigious award recognizes exemplary efforts in focused areas of planning that demonstrate innovation, originality, and measurable community impact.
The Raleigh Parks Plan Update sets a bold vision for a more equitable, resilient, and community-driven parks system. Centered on four health lenses—Individual Wellbeing, Community Cohesion, Environmental Resilience, and Organizational Commitment—the plan outlines actionable strategies to guide investment, programming, and stewardship across Raleigh's growing parks and greenway network. It was developed through an inclusive public engagement process and is already informing decision-making and partnerships citywide.
