Raleigh Parks Plan to be Honored with Statewide Planning Award

The City of Raleigh is proud to share that the 2024 Raleigh Parks Plan Update has been selected to receive the 2025 Marvin Collins Award for Specialized Planning from the American Planning Association – North Carolina Chapter (APA-NC). This award recognizes exemplary efforts in focused areas of planning that demonstrate innovation, originality, and measurable community impact.

The award will be officially announced at the APA-NC Chapter Awards Ceremony during the state conference on Oct. 15, 2025, after which winners will be posted online.

The Raleigh Parks Plan Update sets a bold vision for a more equitable, resilient, and community-driven parks system. Centered on four health lenses—Individual Wellbeing, Community Cohesion, Environmental Resilience, and Organizational Commitment—the plan outlines actionable strategies to guide investment, programming, and stewardship across Raleigh's growing parks and greenway network. Developed through an inclusive public engagement process, the plan is already informing decision-making and partnerships citywide.
