Improvements Are Coming to Walnut Creek Wetland Park

It’s official: a great new community space is coming to Walnut Creek Wetland Park along Bailey Drive. Raleigh City Council has approved the construction contract, moving the project from plan to action. 

What’s coming 

The Bailey Drive Gateway will make the park easier to access and more inviting for the community. Improvements include: 

  • A pavilion for shade and meetups 
  • Gathering areas for neighbors and visitors 
  • Native plantings that support the wetland 
  • Public art features 
  • A new sidewalk along Bailey Drive

Project location

What’s next 

Construction will be led by Harrod and Associates Constructors Inc. and is expected to be complete by Winter 2027. The project is funded jointly by Raleigh Parks, The Conservation Fund, Raleigh Department of Transportation, and the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership.
