Watercolor, Weaving and Open Studio

Beginning Watercolor

Discover the magic of watercolor! The instructor will introduce paper, brushes, supplies, and techniques. Students will practice using elements of texture, value, line, space, shape, and form, including the color wheel. Students will learn to use these techniques to create their own original art. The instructor will help you wherever you are. Oriental brush assignment may be included along with color puzzles, explanation, and examples. You must bring supplies to class. Supply list available online or at the Five Points front desk.

Dates: Tuesdays, July 7 - Aug. 11
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Continuing Watercolor

This class can only be taken if you have taken a previous watercolor class before. Review techniques, color theory and use in painting still-life or photos of flowers, animals, etc. Address composition elements & principles. Discuss brushes and supplies, along with how to create form. Oriental brush assignment may be included along with color puzzles, explanation, and examples. Students will learn to use these techniques to create their own original art, whether still life, landscape or abstract. You must bring supplies to class. Supply list available online or at the Five Points front desk.

Fibers-Weaving Workshop

Learn how to make your own loom from cardboard! Weaving techniques included and basic instructions. Warp string and weft yarn available. Learn how to take everything off of the loom and finish.

Open Studio with Adrienne

Do you make your art independently, yet sometimes yearn for feedback from an objective eye? Open Studio with Adrienne provides an environment for your fully independent process with available feedback when requested and occasional scheduled group “crits”. Adrienne Garnett has years of teaching visual art in NY public schools and coaching graduate and undergraduate art teachers in their college colloquium. Six sessions to begin with. Bring your own materials.
