Construction for both Leesville Community Park and Strickland Road Park will begin on April 28, 2025, and is expected to continue through January 2026. Both parks will be closed during the construction period. The Leesville Community Library will remain open, and public parking will still be available. Project Overview
The 2022 Raleigh Parks Bond allocates $2,000,000 to improve Leesville Community Park and Strickland Road Park. Proposed site improvements at both parks include permanent restroom facilities and improved amenities.
Leesville Community Park is an existing 56-acre neighborhood park located on Country Trail in northwest Raleigh. The Leesville Community Park Master Plan was adopted in May 2007. Proposed improvements include playground expansion with shade structure, new restroom building, outdoor reading nook, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Strickland Road Park is an existing 36-acre neighborhood park located on Strickland Road in northwest Raleigh. Proposed improvements include a new restroom building, an accessible paved path and overlook area, a parking lot, stormwater improvements, new playground surfacing, and electric vehicle charging stations.
