Project Overview
The 2022 Raleigh Parks Bond allocates $4,470,000 for site improvements to Green Road Park. Improvements focus on park accessibility and safety enhancements, replacement of the existing restroom building, existing site renovations, and new recreational features.
Green Road Park is an existing 29-acre park located at 4201 Green Road in northeast Raleigh. Current facilities include a community center, restroom building, baseball fields, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, and a playground. The park shares space with Wake County’s Green Road Community Library.
Proposed site improvements include new accessible pathways connecting park features; raised parking lot crosswalks to improve pedestrian safety; entrance plaza with shade structure; expanded playground; adult fitness area; new restroom building; futsal and pickleball courts; site drainage improvements; electric vehicle charging stations; stormwater improvements; and public art installation.
In May 2024, the Parks, Recreation and Greenway Advisory Board approved the Green Road Park schematic design plans. The project is currently in the final design and permitting phase with construction planned for 2025.
