The following street closings are due to scheduled special events such as festivals, road races, walks, and parades, in addition to construction projects. Some of these activities will affect certain traffic patterns across Raleigh over the next several months.

E Cabarrus, S Person closure begins June 5

A full intersection closure is scheduled at E Cabarrus Street and S Person Street on Friday, June 5, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of a Capital Improvement Project. The intersection will be closed to through traffic during this time, and a detour will be in place. Crews also will be working along E Cabarrus Street and S Person Street. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.

A full road closure also is scheduled for the 300 block of E Cabarrus Street, between S Person Street and S Bloodworth Street, from Friday, June 5, at 7 a.m. through Friday, June 12, at 5 p.m. The road will remain closed until work is completed. Local traffic will be allowed for driveway access only. A detour will be in place, and crews will be working in the area. Motorists should use caution, expect delays, and plan extra travel time.

E Martin, S Person Streets Intersection to Close

A full intersection closure will be in place at E Martin Street and S Person Street from Monday, June 15 through Friday, June 26 (on or after) for a Capital Improvement Project that also includes work along S Person Street.

A detour will be in place. Motorists should expect delays, follow posted detour signs, use alternate routes when possible and use caution in the work zone.

The city thanks residents, businesses and visitors for their patience while crews complete this work.

Downtown traffic impacts June 16-29

Downtown traffic advisory: June 16–29

Road work will occur on multiple downtown streets from June 16-29. Drivers should expect temporary lane closures, lane shifts and occasional full road closures on Person, Blount and South Wilmington streets. Delays are likely during work hours.

Traffic control will be in place to separate work zones from vehicles. Normal traffic patterns will be restored each evening where possible.

June 16 – Person St (East Martin to South Bloodworth): Left lane closure
June 17 – Person St (East Hargett to East Martin): Left double lane closure
June 18 – Person St (East Hargett to Minerva): Full closure (detour via South Bloodworth St)
June 22 – Person St (East Cabarrus to East Lenoir): Right lane closure
June 23 – Blount St (East Cabarrus to East Davie): Lane closure
June 24 – South Wilmington St (East Cabarrus to Davie): Lane closure
June 25 – South Wilmington St (East Lenoir to Stronachs Alley): Lane closure
June 29 – South Blount St (East Cabarrus to East Lenoir): Road closure (detour)

Sewer Repair to Reduce Traffic on Wade Avenue

The Raleigh Water Sewer Maintenance Division will reduce Wade Avenue to one lane between Banbury Woods Place and Brooks Avenue on Monday, June 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews repair the sewer collection system in the 2800 block of Wade Avenue. Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time through the area. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews complete this necessary work.
