Owning a home is more than just having a place to live — it’s a powerful step toward financial stability, long-term security, and building a future for your family. For many, it also lays the foundation for generational wealth that can be passed down for years to come.
But taking that first step into homeownership isn’t always easy, and the City of Raleigh understands that.
To help ease the path, Raleigh offers special programs designed to support first-time homebuyers with some of the biggest upfront costs, including the down payment and closing costs. Eligible applicants may receive between $45,000 and $60,000 in financial assistance!
No payments are due until the loan matures, the home is sold, or the owner no longer uses the home as their primary residence.
To qualify, you must:
- Meet certain income limits
- Complete a HUD approved homebuyer education course
- Homes must be located within Raleigh city limits
This is a meaningful opportunity for individuals and families who are ready to put down roots but need a little extra support to get started.
