City to Host Public Hearing on Housing and Community Development Programs

Federal grant funding through the FY2024-2025 Annual Action Plan

This news article is more than a year old.

The City's public hearing on housing and community development needs to inform the FY2024-2025 Annual Action Plan is on Tuesday, December 5 at 7 p.m.

Background

Each year, the City of Raleigh receives funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These federal dollars include the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).

The City uses these programs to help to address the needs of low- and moderate-income persons. Eligible uses for these funds include:

  • Homelessness support;
  • Affordable rental unit development;
  • Housing rehabilitation; and
  • Homebuyer assistance.

The December 5 public hearing is an opportunity for Raleigh residents to provide input on the City's housing and community development needs. City staff will incorporate feedback provided by the community at the public hearing, public meetings, and survey responses while drafting the FY24-25 Annual Action Plan. A second public hearing will be held in April 2024 to receive public comment on the draft Action Plan. To stay engaged, please view the full schedule of public participation opportunities.
