Wake County EMS is updating how it will respond to emergency calls through an improved call sorting process known as “call triaging.” The most appropriate resource will be dispatched first for each call. That may include an ambulance, a fire truck with an ambulance, a nurse call-line, or another resource depending on the situation. The goal is to ensure the right care gets to the largest number of patients in the right amount of time.
Wake County EMS will hold community meetings to share information about the changes. The first meeting is scheduled for Feb. 25.
