The Raleigh-Wake Emergency Communications Center is one of the world’s top dispatch centers. It was recently ranked the 39th best accredited emergency fire dispatch center. It was also ranked the 114th emergency medical dispatch center. These recognitions are awarded by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED). They also mean the center earned its accreditation again.
“These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible call takers, dispatchers, and support staff,” says Center Director Dominick Nutter.
Raleigh-Wake ECC first received its accredited center of excellence (ACE) recognition in 2007.
The IAED sets the standard for emergency dispatch services worldwide. Accreditation is the highest distinction given to emergency communication centers. It certifies that the center is performing at or above industry standards. These centers are the embodiment of dispatch done right. They demonstrate strong local oversight and rigorous quality processes. They are also committed to data-driven improvement.
“Accreditation is a pinnacle achievement,” Nutter says. “I applaud our staff for meeting that high standard that few achieve. I know our community can count on these first, first responders to do an outstanding job.”
