In this interactive workshop, small business owners and entrepreneurs will learn how to calculate costs, research the competition, and apply pricing models. We’ll cover the fundamentals of identifying direct and indirect costs, separating fixed and variable expenses, and ensuring your prices cover costs while delivering value to customers. We’ll also review common pricing strategies—such as cost-plus, value-based, and competitive pricing—and discuss when each approach works best. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clear process for setting sustainable, profitable prices that support your business goals and keep you competitive in your market. This two-hour workshop will help you to understand the difference between cash basis and accrual basis of accounting and single versus double entry bookkeeping. We’ll talk about calculating and recording payroll taxes and sales tax. You’ll become familiar with those financial terms that confuse you but that accountants love to use, and you’ll get hands-on experience in recording transactions and preparing an income and expense statement and balance sheet. Jess McLamb, president of Goldston Consulting Group began her accounting and consulting business over 30 years ago. Since that time, she has trained thousands of entrepreneurs across the state how to start, market and manage their business.
