Raleigh Parks and Police Join Forces to Revitalize Caraleigh Park

One of Raleigh’s oldest city parks is getting a refresh! The Raleigh Police Department paired up with Raleigh Parks on Thursday, November 6, 2025, to celebrate a community partnership that will soon transform Caraleigh Park.

Built in 1970, the park has served generations of families.  Unfortunately, it has long faced issues with ageing equipment and limited accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Thanks to a recently awarded grant, the park will soon undergo major renovations designed to make it more inclusive, engaging, and welcoming for all residents.

Raleigh Police Chief Rico Boyce and Parks Director Stephen Bentley were among dozens of community members and city staff who attended Thursday’s event.

“We often hear the phrase ‘community engagement,’” said Chief Boyce. “It’s a phrase used across the country – and while it sounds good, I believe it must mean more than words. To me, community engagement isn’t just a talking point — it’s action. And being here today, at Caraleigh Park, is that action in motion. These renovations represent more than just new equipment or landscaping; they represent a fresh start, a renewed space where families will gather, where friendships will form, and where children will create some of the most joyful memories of their lives.”

The project reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to creating accessible and equitable public spaces for every resident. The renovated park will feature modern play structures, improved pathways, and new amenities designed with accessibility and safety in mind.

Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion anticipated by spring 2026.
