The Police Advisory Board invites community members to join us for an open conversation about how emerging technologies are being used in public safety and what that means for our community.
During this forum, the Raleigh Police Department will provide a live demonstration and overview of tools currently used to support investigations and public safety, including drone technology and GPS tracking devices. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how these tools work, when they may be utilized, and the policies that guide their use.
To ensure a balanced and informative discussion, the event will also feature legal perspectives from both a defense attorney and representatives from the District Attorney’s Office. Together, they will discuss:
- How investigative technologies may be used in criminal investigations
- Your rights as a community member regarding privacy, search, and due process
- Your rights as a victim of crime, including protections and available resources
- How technology intersects with legal safeguards and accountability
This event is designed to create transparency, build trust, and foster meaningful dialogue between law enforcement, legal professionals, and the Raleigh community.
There will be time for questions, discussion, and community engagement.
All community members are welcome.
