This Is What I Do! Maintain Raleigh's Tree Canopy

Meet Zach Manor, Raleigh’s Urban Forester

There are thousands of employees that keep the City running each day. The video series, “This Is What I Do,” highlights some of our unsung heroes and the work they’re proud to be doing.

Our latest episode features Zach Manor, the City’s Urban Forester. He maintains Raleigh’s tree canopy by planting, pruning, and removing unhealthy or poorly located trees throughout the City.

One of the many things Zach loves about his job is that his work provides opportunities for people to connect with nature. Residents can enjoy the shade of beautiful trees at our parks, along greenways, and in public spaces throughout the City. Watch the video to learn more!
