About the Artist Community-Initiated Public Art

The North Carolina Wildflower Mural was born from noticing the gorgeous wildflowers that appear in our state’s uncultivated areas and roadsides. The artist wanted to create an homage to North Carolina’s native plants in a time when rapid expansion has left few spaces in this area untouched. She hopes this art will not only bring joy to this space, but also help viewers be more mindful and appreciative of our native plants.

About the Artist

Hannah is a self-taught artist who incorporates bold colors and unique perspectives to explore the beauty in ordinary life. For her, art is more than expression, it is about having vision to see the good no matter what is going on in the present. Her paintings reference her photography of neighborhoods, sunsets, architecture, and nature between the Triangle area and her hometown in Central Virginia. Although she is primarily an acrylic artist, she also has a signature style utilizing yarn to create art that is soft, fuzzy, and meant to be touched.
