About the Artists

Display Cases

Sunila Pendharkar

Sunila Pendharkar is a visual artist who has dabbled in painting, photography, quilting, sewing, and more. She was drawn to pottery because of its practical application for daily use. Pendharkar enjoys experimenting with different colors and shapes, seeking to break with conventional pottery forms in her work. She draws her inspiration from the world around her and still closely aligns herself with her Indian-born roots. The bright colors are an especially integral part of her work, as she still draws upon days in India as a child when she would paint designs on her saris. She immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s and has lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the past 15 years. Pendharkar has also worked as an engineer.

Jessica Mae Nisbett

Jessica Mae Nisbett is a Fine Arts graduate from Arkansas Tech University. Her emphasis while in school was painting and drawing. She grew up in a small town in Arkansas but now resides in North Carolina with her husband and two daughters. Her days are spent teaching art to kids, being a wife and mom, doing art with her own children, and immersing in nature.

As an artist, many things over time have inspired and influenced her, but for quite some time now, her artwork has been inspired by the environment and free spirit of the natural world.  She always attempts to convey her relationship and unity with nature and always strives to excite and inspire viewers to do the same.

Hall Gallery

Kathleen Kelly

Kathleen Kelly, a Raleigh native, is an artist and designer focusing on a fusion of handcrafted collaging and digital imaging, creating high impact pieces exploding with color and energy. Her artistic career began at Sertoma in the 1980s and has only flourished. After discovering her love of design, she earned a bachelor’s in graphic design from Meredith College. With a lifelong love of fabric, she completed her master’s in textiles at NC State University and had the honor of designing the Pack Plaid, the official NC State tartan registered in Scotland. Since 2015, Kathleen has worked in knit product development, designing fabrics and products for the global bedding industry, which has only bolstered her artistic endeavors. The wealth of knowledge and insight gained from designing fabrics has compelled her to become a better artist.

Art has always been an outlet for Kathleen. Her work is a physical manifestation of what is going on in her mind at the time. She describes her art as unknown and intuitive, not knowing where it will begin or end.

Artwork by Fania Greenwood

Fania Greenwood

Fania was born in France and grew up in the very old city of Lyon, where she studied Fashion Design, Pattern Making, and French Cooking. In the US, she studied Color & Design, Sculpture at Idaho State University, and Graphic Design & Photography in Charlotte. "My inspiration is usually a photograph of nature, graffiti, a building, landscape, fabric, a rock, a picture in a magazine.... I usually start with a loose charcoal drawing of shapes, curves and lines. Like a figure drawing, I need to be satisfied with balance and usually turn the canvas around many times. I mix colors in little jars, decide which ones I am going to use. I am drawn to strong primary colors shapes and the unusual."
