Sidewalk Mural Highlights Science Museum's Exhibits

This public art project is part of the Raleigh ArtBeats program

A sidewalk mural with green lillypads, and blue water and other nature scenes

A new interactive mural near the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences transforms the sidewalk into a playful jumping game. Pedestrians can leap across the creek on painted rocks, logs, and lilypads on their journey to reach the other side.

The mural is designed to bring a spark of joy to pedestrians and to highlight the vibrant exhibits that are on display at the museum.  It features several animals that call the museum home, from a massive snapping turtle to delicate tropical butterflies.  In the shallows is a hidden Acrocanthosaurus skull, which is just one of many impressive dinosaurs that can be found during a trip to the museum.
