Beginning June 22, Sertoma Arts Center will temporarily close through Summer 2027 for major renovations and expansion as part of the voter-approved 2022 Parks Bond.
While the facility is closed for construction, many arts classes and programs will continue at alternate Raleigh Parks locations so participants can continue creating during the project. Information about relocated programming and registration will be shared directly with participants and available online.
Sertoma Arts Center is located at Shelley Lake Park at 1400 W. Millbrook Road.
About the Project
The Sertoma Arts Center Improvements Project will modernize and expand the facility to better serve Raleigh’s growing arts community.
Planned improvements include:
- Expanded gallery and lobby spaces
- New and updated classrooms and studios
- Expanded ceramics facilities
- Improved restrooms and support spaces
- Accessibility improvements, including a new elevator
The project is funded through the 2022 Parks Bond and is designed to improve both the visitor experience and the functionality of the facility for artists, instructors, and program participants.
Why This Work Matters
For decades, Sertoma Arts Center has provided opportunities for creativity, learning, and community connection through classes, exhibitions, studio programs, and cultural experiences for all ages.
These improvements will help preserve the center’s role as an important community arts space while expanding opportunities for future programming and improving accessibility for visitors of all abilities.
