Celebrate the stories that shape Raleigh on Wednesday, October 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a joint reception at Block Gallery and City Council Offices. This event highlights both the Block Gallery exhibition and the unveiling of newly displayed artworks and historic objects from the City’s Municipal Art Collection.

Visible History: A Celebration of North Carolina Native American Culture at Block Gallery

Featuring photography by Alexandra Williams and art works by the Triangle Native American Society, Visible History showcases the proud cultural heritage of the Dix Park Inter-Tribal Pow Wow, honoring the traditions of North Carolina’s Indigenous communities. Triangle Native American Society Artists featured include Gavin Bell (Lumbee Tribe), Raven Dial Stanley (Lumbee Tribe), Jesalyn Keziah (Lumbee Tribe), Sherry Keziah (Lumbee Tribe), Ava Paisley Frisard (Lumbee Tribe), Gwen Locklear (Lumbee Tribe), Tiana Lowry (Lumbee Tribe), Betty Oxendine Mangum (Lumbee Tribe), Jocelyn Painter (Winnebago Tribe), Ashley Salaz (Coharie Tribe). 

Visible History will be on view at Block Gallery from September 17, 2025, through January 9, 2026.

Municipal Art Collection and Historic Objects 

New artworks and historic items from the City's collections are now on display in the City Council offices, offering a glimpse into Raleigh’s evolving story. 

The items on display in Mayor Cowell’s office reflect the breadth of artifacts, photographs, and archives managed by the Historic Resources and Museum Program. This exhibit is a small representation of what can and will tell Raleigh’s history through many centuries. City Council offices are located on the second floor of the Raleigh Municipal Building just off of the Block Gallery.
