City Brings Free Outdoor Wi-Fi and Lighting to Peach Road Park

The City is thrilled to announce the launch of free outdoor Wi-Fi at Peach Road Park (located at 911 Ileagnes Rd). This new service, running on a trial basis through March 2025, is part of the Smart Raleigh initiative and ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity and bridge the digital divide.

To connect to the Wi-Fi, simply agree to the terms and conditions, and you’ll be directed to the Outdoor Wi-Fi at Peach Road Park page. The City values user feedback and encourages everyone to fill out the “Get Connected” form to receive updates and provide insights.

Residents and visitors are invited to experience the new outdoor Wi-Fi service, enjoy the connectivity, and contribute to its success by sharing feedback. Survey opportunities will be available to gather insights on how this service impacts daily life and overall connectivity.

Key partners that made this project possible include:

  • Networking for Future (NFF): a Mid-Atlantic based, performance-focused IT solutions provider strategic consulting and technical expertise;
  • Cisco: state-of-the-art networking hardware and solutions;
  • Signify: connected lighting infrastructure; its Genlyte Solutions outdoor lighting fixtures ensure Peach Road Park is well-lit, and its Interact software and outdoor multi-sensor deliver motion detection and ambient noise and temperature insights to the City;
  • T-Mobile: high-speed 5G fixed wireless access backhaul connectivity to Signify’s BrightSites Broadband Luminaire solution, enabling the last-mile connectivity that powers the public Wi-Fi access points through the park’s outdoor lighting.

At the end of the trial period in March 2025, the City will evaluate the collected data and feedback. This evaluation will guide decisions on continuing the service at Peach Road Park and potentially expanding public internet access across the city.

The City remains committed to fostering a digitally inclusive community through innovative initiatives like the Peach Road Park Wi-Fi project. This effort exemplifies the City's dedication to enhancing the quality of life for all residents and visitors, ensuring everyone can stay connected in an increasingly digital world.
