Parking in downtown Raleigh just got easier. Our city-owned parking decks now use License Plate Recognition (LPR) to streamline your visit and reduce wait times at entrances and exits. Whether you're headed to dinner, a show, or just running errands, here's what you need to know for a smooth experience.

Entering the Deck

When you arrive at a city-owned parking deck, begin by pulling a ticket from the entry kiosk. This simple action activates the LPR system and logs your vehicle's license plate. As the system scans your plate, the entry gate will lift automatically—no need to press additional buttons or speak to an attendant. Be sure to keep your ticket with you, as you'll need it later to exit.

Making A Payment

Before leaving the deck, you have several convenient options to pay for your parking. You can stop by a Pay-on-Foot station located near pedestrian exits and kiosks. Prefer to use your phone? Just scan the QR code on your ticket to pay digitally. Alternatively, you can pay at the Pay-in-Lane kiosk as you exit the deck. Choose the method that works best for your schedule and preference.

Exiting the Deck

When it's time to leave, drive to the exit kiosk and have your ticket ready. Place the ticket under the barcode scanner with the barcode facing up. The system will automatically match your scanned ticket with the license plate that was recorded when you entered. Once everything checks out, the gate will open and you're free to go!

Important Reminders

Even though LPR technology captures your license plate when you enter, you still need your physical ticket to exit the parking deck. If you misplace your ticket, don’t worry—just press the help button located at the exit kiosk for assistance from parking staff.

With LPR, parking in downtown Raleigh is faster, easier, and more convenient than ever before. Just remember: grab your ticket, keep it safe, and enjoy your time downtown!
