Raleigh is expanding mandatory parking zones for shared scooters and bikes. Enforcement began Monday at completed, painted micromobility parking corrals. We waited to turn on enforcement until enough corrals were ready. Now that 55% of the planned corrals are complete, mandatory parking zones are active at those locations.
How it works
When you end your Lime or Spin trip, you’ll need to park at a designated corral if you are within a mandatory parking zone. If you try to end your trip outside the corral but within 100 meters (about 230 feet, or a 1.5-minute walk) of one, the app will not let you end the trip. Instead, it will direct you to the nearest mandatory parking corral.
Grace period
Through September 13, riders who are directed to a corral will receive an in-app prompt, but no penalty will apply. This grace period gives everyone time to get familiar with the new parking requirement.
What changes September 14
Beginning September 14, riders who leave a scooter or bike without ending the trip will be charged for up to 15 minutes of ride time.
The City’s existing escalating fine policy will also apply:
- First two violations: Warning
- Third and fourth violations: $15 fine
- Fifth violation: Account suspension
