Taxi Inspection Event

Comment Sessions to be Held on Taxi Inspections Proposed Rate Structure

Taxi Inspections Program

The Taxi Inspections Program, administered by RPD, is scheduled to present a proposed taxi rate increase to City Council in February or March of this year. In preparation for the rate adjustment proposal, the Taxi Inspections Program will be holding meetings with all taxi companies to receive comments on the proposed rate structure. Two meetings are currently scheduled, as follows:

  • Jan 9 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Marsh Creek Community Center, 3050 New Hope Road
  • Jan 11 from  6 - 8 p.m. at RPD Southwest District, 601 Hutton Street

The issue of taxi rates has come up in the last year during public comment sessions and in community meetings about GoRaleigh Access. The GoRaleigh Access program often uses individual taxi vehicles to provide service to its clients. As 2024 began, fewer independent taxis has renewed their paperwork required for their licenses. City staff and the GoRaleigh Access contractor, RATP Dev, have worked through these operational challenges ensure all trips are covered and reliability remains consistent.
