General Information Modifications to Locked Templates

The City of Raleigh has a number of locked templates to assist customers with the legal document process. Recording your legal documents is one of the last steps in the land development review process. Once your administrative site or subdivision is approved, your legal documents become part of the recorded map process.

Legal documents must be approved, executed and recorded prior to or along with the recorded map on which your easements are associated. Questions about the legal document process can be directed to your assigned planner or to legaldocumentreview@raleighnc.gov.

General Information

Legal documents are required to be recorded within one business day of the plat recordation in accordance with Sections 1.9.C and 10.2.5.F.4 of the Unified Development Ordinance.

Submit all legal documents to legaldocumentreview@raleighnc.gov.

Review comments will be provided on the recorded map case in which the legal documents are associated. These cases can be found via the Permit and Development Portal.

Please note all required legal documents must be approved prior to plat/map approval.

Modifications to Locked Templates

Modifications may be allowed to these templates on a case by case basis and are subject to approval by the City Attorney's Office

Contact the planner assigned to your project for more information on legal document modification. Please note that modifications to any legal documents will increase the length of your review time.
