The members of the Raleigh Fire Department are highly trained, exceptionally dedicated, and extremely compassionate. The department's more than 600 firefighters answer 50,000 calls for service every year, helping Raleigh’s continuously growing population.

The members of the Raleigh Fire Department (RFD) are highly trained, exceptionally dedicated and extremely compassionate. At more than 650 firefighters strong, the department operates out of 29 fire stations strategically placed across the city.

Besides 29 engine companies and nine ladder companies, Raleigh Fire has several specialty teams: technical rescue, hazmat, and helicopter rescue. Additionally, we have statewide response teams, USAR NC-TF 8, which is a partnership with NC Emergency Management, Durham Fire, Chapel Hill Fire, and Wake County EMS. There is also a Hazmat Regional Response Team, RRT4, which is a partnership with NC Emergency Management.
