Deputy Chief Rico Boyce began his law enforcement career in 2000 as part of the Raleigh Police Department’s 76th Police Academy. Deputy Chief Boyce has worked in multiple divisions during his career. His leadership, community engagement and work ethic has accelerated him through the ranks within RPD. His academic accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from North Carolina Central University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Pfeiffer University. Aside from traditional education, he also attended the Administrative Officers Management Program at North Carolina State University (82nd Session) and the prestigious FBI National Academy (Session 284) in Quantico, VA.
Deputy Chief Boyce is a member of several professional and civic organizations including: N.O.B.L.E. (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives), The International Association of Chiefs of Police, North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police, North Carolina Police Executives Association, and the North Carolina Gang Investigators Association. Deputy Chief Boyce is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.
As Deputy Chief of Operations, he oversees both the Field Operations and Special Operations Divisions.
