Raleigh Celebrates National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

This news article is more than a year old.

Every year during the second week of April, the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community are honored. It is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public. Telecommunicators play a vital role in ensuring the safety of our public by answering calls from our community and relaying critical information to our first responders. They are steady and professional voices that bring calm to stressful situations.

Police Chief, Estella Patterson said, "Telecommunications are instrumental in keeping our officers safe. When our officers respond to dangerous and volatile situations, our telecommunicators are the communications lifeline to our public safety partners. For these reasons, the Raleigh Police Department proudly recognizes and honors our 911 emergency telecommunicators."

Fire Chief Herbert Griffin offered these words of support for our telecommunicators: "On behalf of the men & women of the Raleigh Fire Department we say thank you to our Public Safety Telecommunicator. They are the unseen heroes of Public Safety."

Thank you again for all the sacrifices you make to create a better and safer world for the public.
