Raleigh Fire Department’s Station 7 is getting a makeover to look and function better than ever. The station is at 2100 Glascock Street and serves the historic Oakwood and Mordecai neighborhoods.
The station is scheduled to close on March 31 and the work is estimated to take about four months. Raleigh Fire Department squad 7 will move to Fire Station 11, at 2925 Glenridge Road, for that time. The community should continue to call 911 for emergencies.
Thanks to the remodel, the station will get several improvements, including:
- New windows
- New bathrooms and showers
- New flooring
- LED lighting
- Bifold bay doors
The station, built in 1959, is 4,261 square feet. The remodel is estimated to cost about $813,000.
“We are pleased to announce this project that will positively impact our City's firefighting capabilities and infrastructure,” said Fire Chief Herbert Griffin. “The Raleigh Fire Department will continue to be the cornerstone of this great community. Our firefighters keep the public safe to enjoy their lives knowing that they are protected from fire and other dangers.”
