Live Fire Training Gets a Boost

The two story structure is made of metal shipping containers and has a front staircase and windows.

Raleigh Fire Department rejuvenated and expanded its live fire training space to increase its on-site training capabilities.

Real smoke. Real fire. Real training. Raleigh Fire Department firefighters now have an enhanced space to practice live fires. A two-story structure at the Keeter Training Center features several rooms, simulating a residential environment.

Live fire training prepares firefighters to stay focused and respond with calm, efficient actions even under intense pressure, says Assistant Chief Brian Sherrill. “This renovation has significantly expanded our on-site training capabilities,” he said.
