Raleigh Police Department's Family Violence Intervention Unit assists with following up on all domestic and family-related cases.
The Family Violence Intervention Unit is composed of one Sergeant, one victim advocate, two crisis counselors, two officers and four detectives. The unit provides crisis intervention and counseling, support and referrals to various community agencies and resources tailored to each victim’s needs. The unit assists with domestic violence protective orders, victim impact statements, court accompaniment on a case-to-case basis, and Victim’s Compensation applications, and it works closely with local shelters to find a safe place for victims to stay when fleeing an abusive relationship.
Our motto at the Family Violence Intervention Unit is to ensure that we provide excellent care and services to all victims and make sure they are better than when we first encountered them.
